A Passing
Rein, the rat, passed away this morning due to unknown causes.
His petrified body was discovered at noon, eyes closed and peacefully lying on his side. We buried him in the yard and stabbed a wooden cross in the ground in his memory.

Rein was a good rat. Despite his sharp bites to my hand, clever escapes and his being picky with food; he lived a life full of monkey bar exhibitions and funny rodent antics. But the most notable of all was he spent more than half of his life in the service of science - and to him I owe my college degree, among many others.
