People are always asking me what I read. I don't understand why some people really don't have any idea how to gently interrupt someone from reading; why they don't realize that reading for some people is just as deep as sleeping. I believe interruptions should be carried out with politeness.
So here's what I'm reading: this new bestseller by Sophie Kinsella, who is better known for her Shopaholic series which has recently been adapted into film. It's "Remember Me?", a chick-lit novel about a skaggy woman who suddenly wakes up with amnesia to find herself a filthy rich career woman. To be honest, I wasn't impressed by the overly slang first-person narrative style that the author used. I just continued reading it because it was my cousin's gift and it was quite effective in shaking away my initial lethargy before work starts. I began to enjoy the story eventually; besides, it was meant to be a light material. The clever plot and uniquely British humor made up for whatever flaws the novel had.
Anyway, I have a colleague who bought a book. She showed it to me excitedly but I was disappointed that she actually had to buy it from National Bookstore. It was Bram Stoker's Dracula; so I thought: If she really wanted to read a classic, she could have bought one from a book sale for half the price instead. But then, she really wasn't the type who looks at books as a hobby so I didn't mention my musings. When they asked about her sudden purchase, she replied, "Because I saw Anna's always reading. And she's good at her job; so I figured, if I begin reading, maybe I'll get a little better."
I never guessed being an antisocial nerd who'd rather read than talk to people-type-of-person could touch someone that way. It made me smirk. It was good revenge for all those times I was taunted and interrupted from my book.

Ahaha. Only you Anna, only you.
Cool. You're an inspiration.
I rarely read fictional stuff at work for the fera that I might freak out at an exiting part or LOL at a funny quote or something. I usually get carried away by what I read so kudos to you for being a brave soul who reads at work.
Annabanana, you're such a stud. Bram Stoker's Dracula, very nice. Buti hindi Twilight. :P
Bram Stoker's English is a bit too deep for a noob at literature, but that's how they start anyway. :)
Btw, I have Twilight ebooks, LOL. But I've never touched them. I'm need to be interested enough.
To tell you honestly, I was frozen for a moment when she said that. Parang "Huh?" Ahaha.
Reading is my only way to stay intact. Else, I'd be so bored I'll resort to doing monologues. Sometimes, it's really that bad. LOL
HAHAHAH! Nakarelate ako.
I read a lot alone at cafes or wherever I can sit lang. I swear I laugh I giggle I "freak out"... I get stares. But then again I'm in my own little world so I don't give a shit. It's fun! You should do that. :P
Anna: Cool ah. Hahaha. Them callcenter people are funneh.
Yes, leerning those beeg adultz words would take some time. Still, a good book to start IMO.
Yes. I really have to hide my laughter sometimes. To think that this girl who picked up the book was the bitchy type. So I'm still not sure if what she said was a compliment or not. Haha.
