Gangsta Love

So what. I'm a sucker for gangster/mob films.

Crows Zero is a live-action adaptation of the popular manga by Takahashi Hiroshi, which is actually a prequel of his earlier work Crows. Marketed in Japan as Kurozu Zero, it's a story about gangs in delinquent-rich Suzuran High School where a transfer student, Takitani tries to take over the school over rival Serizawa while mentored by a Yakuza old boy Katagiri. Evil,  scheming teenage megalomaniacs trying to kill each other; gangster brotherhood; icky, sweaty and bloody bad boys - love it. And finally, a role that fits Mr. Oguri! (Away with the shoujo manga characters! Away with the pretty boy haircut! Haha.)

The film is directed by Takashi Miike who also did One Missed Call and Dead or Alive; and stars Daito Shunsuke, Oguri Shun, Yabe Kyosuke, and Yamada Takayuki (…to my surprise. Diba matinée idol ito? Lol.)

I can't wait to get my hands on this.

Reminds me of Battle Royale, hmmm.

The trailer isn't much, so anyone interested can search in YouTube by themselves. The one above is just a screenshot of their official website, which was kinda cool except for the annoying loading time.

Pizza and Pink Roses

=D.

I hated surprises. I still do. But I guess there's an exception... not if it involves Italian food and roses. Hehe.

I'm running out of things to say. Just...

Thank you all.

Thanks Kenet for asking them to come and for suggesting Sbarro kahit wala naman kaming choice (Joke! Ikaw lang naman kasi ang mahilig talaga sa Sbarro.); Kel and Hernie for bringing the flowers (tsk, guy na may dalang pink? Haha.) and coming back kahit gabi na, Mikki for coming even though you had an exam, Faye and Daal for being there, Kay for the chat the night before and for coming din, and Raymond for texting that he can't make it. (Tampo. xD Hehe.)

I loved the pink roses. <3 They matched my shirt... hehe.

When I get my actual schedule, let's have another one, okay?

OMG. Creepy stalker guys on Fictionpress?!

So I thought stalkers could only go as far as Friendster or other networking sites when it comes to online stalking. So I was wrong.

I opened my mail a few minutes ago and found a private message from another Fictionpress user, which was kind of normal especially when I post a new chapter or story. I became used to critics asking a few story-related questions over PMs or having other users send me good reviews in private aside from the publicly viewable comments. But then the PM I got today sent me to freak-out-turned-laugh-trip mode. Here's what the message contained... let's save the guy some dignity so I edited out some stuff and removed his name.

"Kamusta naman? ngayong araw ko lang nabasa itong mga kwento mo. naaliw ako sa mga kwento mo lalu na yung "Stalker" kasi nakakarelate ako. inspired ba yun nang life story mo? pede ko bang malaman full name, age, location mo? wag kamagalala hindi ako bading. i also write stories but i rarely upload busy kasi lagi at tamad akong magtype kaya nakatambak lang yung mga stories and poems ko dito sa bahay namin. ako nga pala si [full name here] aka [username here]. 18yrs old pa lang ako at next year pa ako mag 19. tiga Quezon city ako. hehe. sige sana sagutin mo itong message ko sayo."

What actually bothered me is how feeling close the message appeared. I'm used to getting PMs from my literary buddies from FP, of all nationalities including other Pinoys, but it was the first time I received something as weird as this. I don't know if he actually realizes the boundaries between the online world and the real one. Full name, age and location? Duh.

A brief background. I wrote the Filipino short story he mentioned entitled 'Stalker' just for fun and published it in FP. (Summary: He knows her full name. He knows about her friends and family. He remembers her childhood, adolescence and early adulthood. He could probably draw her face with his eyes closed. He knows what she likes and what she doesn't. He waits for her and follows her everyday. Stalker? Nah.)

So naka-relate sya sa Stalker story ko? That's creepy. But FYI, it was NOT in any way, inspired by any life experience. As I said, sometimes I think of plots just for fun.

Actually, di talaga ako sanay sa mga PMs na ganito... just in case I would be the only one who finds this weird. Haha. So right now, I'm thinking of a proper reply to this guy. Hmmm.

Yep. I voted for this guy.

So for the past few weeks I've noticed I haven't posted anything socially relevant on this blog. First of all, I've stopped being a politics junkie since... I don't know... I guess when I got totally immersed into science. I'm at this point where nothing excites me other than transgenic transparent frogs, pGLO "glow" monkeys, synthetic 30 kiloDalton giant polyoxometalate molecules or the strange fact that rats cough. Secondly, I didn't think it would be wise to post another commentary on the Desperate Housewives controversy or the Cory Aquino 'slut' photograph or the issue about Andy Manzano's photo used in a mail-order bride website (I was kidding about the last one, lol.). That would just be overkill. But then I found myself joining the 11821 persons who voted for this guy several days ago:

Marco Antonio Torres. An expat in Beijing who's aiming to be the second Filipino torchbearer in Olympic history; the first being in Tokyo in 1964. He's a marketer for M Moser Associates, a prominent Chinese design firm and claims to be a sportsman and frequent traveler. From the pictures I think he looks like some adventurous yuppie with typical camwhore tendencies. (No offense intended. We're all camwhores. :P)

According to him, "Should I get chosen, I will take it as an opportunity to promote China to the Philippines and vice versa. There is truly more to China than the Great Wall, it is after all one of the earliest civilizations, and China has a lot of unique and interesting things to share the world. This is probably why despite over a year of exploring, you just can’t get enough of China."

About what he said, he practically babbled about how he loves China... we can only wonder what percentage of Chinese actually voted for him. So anyway, I found the link for the torchbearer rankings suddenly non-existent, so I assumed the voting has been closed; though I'm not really sure. In any case, you can still view his promotional site at http://pinoytorchbearer.com/.

Only 8 candidates will be chosen as the torchbearers in the Beijing 2008 Olympics so the whole country is rooting for him now. Way to go, dude.

Tell me what your desktop looks like and I'll tell you who you are. Lol.

So that's my desktop. All gloomy and dark and messed up. I can't even bother to erase the downloads that were initially stored in the desktop. There's even that fake Harry Potter 7 e-book that I actually finished reading a few days before the real book's release. And i only have two games installed right now, Monopoly and Lemonade Tycoon 2. It's a sad desktop really, nothing much to wonder about.

Across the Universe

All you need is love. *grin*

I stumbled upon this new movie by Julie Taymor, Across the Universe.

Summary: A dock worker Jude (Jim Sturgess) travels to America in the 1960s to find his estranged father. There he falls in love with sheltered American teenager Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood). When her brother Max (Joe Anderson) is drafted to fight in the Vietnam War, they become involved in peace activism.

I'm fond of musicals but what intrigued me most is that the movie is actually a Beatles songbook squeezed in two hours of film. Remakes of their songs, that is. Even before I read the movie info the fact that it was Beatle-inspired was a little too obvious... hello, the main characters are named Jude and Lucy. Lol. Well, watching the trailer I felt thrown back into the '60s again. I have yet to see the whole thing though.

-edit-

I got the soundtrack, finally. :)

If I wanted to die, I couldn't have found a better way.

I'm working with fecal E. coli and three strong concentrated acids namely nitric, hydrochloric, and perchloric acids. Like I said... If I wanted to die, I couldn't have found a better way.

My rats haven't eaten in two days. I hope they're still alive and zinc-supplemented enough 'cause otherwise I'm dead, even dead-er than being exposed to hazardous acids. No one warned me it was gonna be like this though. But I'm alright. I'm not commenting any further.

So I'm blogging but got nothing to write about except senseless babbles. I just miss writing. I think it's been more than a month since I wrote something out of random creative juices. For EiC, it's sad that I've got a lot of notes and drafts that haven't been given attention yet. I still can't believe it's been seven years. Seven years. Of loss, realizations, awakenings, reconciliation, ideas and daydreams. Seven years of writing and drawing. It seems we're never going to get tired of it anyway.

So I guess I'm not dying soon. I'm wearing double masks, nitrile gloves, a lab gown and closed shoes; and working cautiously in a fume hood with a functioning exhaust. Just maybe if I survive this, after seven more years EiC might be a masterpiece.

Forgive me, I'm being overdramatic again. :)
